Why is newer router mac filtering not a secure way to select devices for the home network? [closed]

What is the current Mac filtering for the newest routers? Isn't the IETF responsible for standards and protocol security? Then why is mac filtering not secure? If my router says "allow these devices only", but it doesn't, it allows any device to connect as long as it's in the subnet, and can even be hidden by router software changes made by ISPs without our knowledge.

The same hidden connections are made to the PC, where many connections are hidden so we don't know who is connected at any one time. All for the sake of advertising to me, and making my experience better.

My older Netgear 6300 does not show connections as Wi-Fi or wired, and does not even pick up the name of the device after I put it on the list of Wi-Fi allowed MACS. My ISP told me to get a new router for faster connection when I complained about the speed reduction. Yet none of my devices can handle 6E or nested configuration, I'm already running Gbit network cards and router. SO, why the new router, when it will not do anything, or will it?
