What is the purpose of MDNS supportsRP-22._apple-mobdev2._tcp.local?
I’ve been experiencing attacks on my macOS computer that seem to coincide with MDNS broadcasts that occur when my iPhone is connected to the same network.
My basic understanding is that my phone requests all (ANY
) DNS records, in the same “query” declares a link-local IPv6 address as an “authoritative nameserver”—which presumably points to the phone because IPv6 is disabled on my router and there should be nothing else on the network—then answers its own request by flushing all DNS records.
Since this behavior seems nonsensical, I’m curious if someone could shed light on what’s going on here. Specifically, what is the purpose of the supportsRP-22._apple-mobdev2_tcp.local
part and why is the cache being repeatedly flushed?
