What information is shared by an audio bluetooth connection?
I paired my Android phone with a rental car recently and, when prompted, told my phone not to share my contacts and messages. So I was only sharing my audio (or so I thought). But at one point I saw my phone number briefly pop up on the car's screen right after pairing.
How could this happen? I thought I was effectively just using the car as a bluetooth speaker. Why would it share my phone number? What other data might it have shared with the car?
I'm curious about the standards/protocols (Bluetooth or otherwise), but of course my main concern is the privacy leak and how to prevent it.
