How can I defend against this targeted attack on my email, voice mail, and text message inboxes?

How can I defend against this targeted attack on my email, voice mail, and text message inboxes?

Some bot connected my old roommate's name with my contact information. Each day I receive spam from websites related to his interests. One day it's mortgages, the next it's pro-life stuff, the next it's stocks and then religious sites.

My voicemails, texts and emails are being bombarded with hopeful sales people contacting me. I'm currently receiving about 20 per day but it seems to be ramping up. The bots are learning more about me as they continue.

I've frozen my credit, changed my passwords, set up 2-factor authentication and I set up my financial accounts to notify me by text message of any purchase I make.

My questions are:

  1. Should I be worried?

  2. Can the bots be tracked to an IP address for accountability?

  3. Is this just my life now? Will this ever stop?

  4. What are the bots gaining by using my info to fill out forms and sign up for newsletters?

I appreciate any input you have.
