Strategic decisions around web hosting on dedicated vs shared server (non-tech question)
I am in negotiations with my hosting provider (single individual) that uses VPS to host all of my sites on what is a dedicated environment.
Overall I am happy, but the issue is with series of DDOS attacks that target a few websites, and subsequently all of them are impacted.
My questions are:
- Is it a solvable problem without significant resource investment?
- Can websites be isolated (permanently) from each other
- Would moving to a share host (some big company) would solve the problem?
- Any other suggestions?
I am happy happy to invest in this more, however my service provider does not seem to be very interested in digging around this, as the attacks only last a minute or so and tend to solve themselves.
I am reluctant to accept that everyone just puts up with that.
