Chase bank will not release the funds of a check I deposited because of phone verification method they use. The maker is my live in tenant, they won’t accept any documentation or notorized letters and will only accept the phone verification that’s in their system. The number is old we can’t remember what it is and to our surprise they won’t accept any other number they cant verify. This is all very one sided and who gives that much control over other peoples money. It’s a flawed system and discriminates people who have phones that are not with a major carrier or with government phones.Chase bank can’t verify a government issued phone number? Chase bank can’t call the issuing bank and verify the maker that way? A representative from sun trust had no problem paying the check. I’m gonna sue Chase for wrongful possession of customer funds and only offering one avenue for verification. It’s shrewd cold corporate business tactic. If I was robbing a bank I would have moved on. We have presented more than enough information to end this but I’m out $580 and looks like I’m never gonna get my money.
