Copying to flash drive sends data through smbd
Bought a cheap 32 GB Flash Drive, started copying 26 GB of data from a Mac to check it works. After 15 GB writing slowed down. At the same time the process smbd wrote gigabytes of data to the network. A few minutes later smbd is still dead, copying files goes at normal speed for a while, then slows down to zero, then back to normal.
Anyone have an explanation for this? Could a flash drive start sending things to the network on its own? Can I create files that write to the network when copied?
