Is Hybrid Analysis a Reliable Tool for Checking Software Safety?
I always check software for potential malware before installing it on Windows 10, using two main online analysis tools:
- Hybrid Analysis
- VirusTotal
Recently, I tested several well-known programs, including:
- PowerISO
- UltraISO
- AnyBurn
- 7-Zip
VirusTotal reported all of them as clean, but Hybrid Analysis flagged every single one as malicious, with high threat scores (e.g., 100/100).
- How credible is Hybrid Analysis compared to VirusTotal?
- Does Hybrid Analysis tend to produce false positives, or should I completely avoid software it flags?
- Do security professionals actually use Hybrid Analysis as a trustworthy malware detection tool?
I want to ensure I’m only using safe software, but these conflicting results make it confusing.
